In collaboration with the U.S. Embassies in Thailand and Philippines and in partnership with National Museum of Prehistory, the American Institute in Taiwan is launching its fifth annual Youth Camp. This year’s camp will bring together approximately 50 young Asian leaders, and will focus on leadership development and community empowerment. Camp activities include interactive panels led by experts from U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs, cultural exploration, and volunteer activities.
Program Dates: July 7-9, 2017
Venue: National Museum of Prehistory, Taitung, Taiwan
Fee: AIT will cover all expenses incurred during the camp, including meals, lodging, insurance, educational materials, and other miscellaneous fees.
Students have to cover their own transportation to National Museum of Prehistory.
Language: The camp will be conducted in English.
Criteria for Selection:
1. Taiwan undergraduate university students from all disciplines are eligible and encouraged to apply.
2. English language ability; able to discuss complex issues in English.
3. Students should be enthusiastic about cultural exchange, regional cooperation, social innovation, and community engagement, and be able to demonstrate leadership potential.
4. Completed application materials must be submitted before May 31, 2017 to include essays and resumes.
5. U.S. exchange programs alumni can recommend and nominate students. Students may also seek nominations and recommendations from college professors, research supervisors, or volunteer organizations.
Application deadline: May 31, 2017 (early submission is highly encouraged)
Selection:
The American Institute in Taiwan will select approximately 30 students from all regions of Taiwan.
Applicants should completethe application form (download here) and essay questions below and attach a resume in English and send to [email protected] before May 31, 2017.
Applications will be reviewed by AIT officers and staff and alumni of U.S. government exchange programs.
Students who are selected for a face-to-face (or Skype) English interview will be notified in early June. Selected campers will be notified by AIT the last week of June and provided with detailed camp information.
